Joan Proudman combines photographic imagery with digital illustration to achieve seamless compositions that delight and inspire. Elegant, subtle, symbolic and whimsical, her work makes interesting and thoughtful greeting cards and prints to display and share with others.
Every composition is original and meticulously-crafted from public domain or privately owned photography.
Cards are printed manually, one at a time, and measure 6.25x4.5" (large) or 5.5"x4.25 (small). Each card comes with an envelope and a protective sleeve and is suitable for all occasions. Cards are printed with an Epson Injet Color Printer on high quality, bright white card stock, are blank on the inside and retail for $6 each.

Artist Statement:
Some people go on long journeys, traveling by plane, boat or car, but I travel inward into a world of symbol and feeling.
Meaningful narratives unfold as if from an invisible source. As a child, I loved to draw figures and create fantasy worlds.
I received my BFA later in life and enjoyed a lifelong career in dance and theater, the latter of which strongly impacts my style.
Proudman's Art has been printed in and on book and CD covers, in manuals, magazines and online journals. “Rite of Passage” won Special Mention in Mozaik Philanthropy’s National Art Competition (2020). Proudman's images were featured in Shadow and Light Magazine’s Surreal Issue, (2021) and she received "Best in Show" for her portfolio in Stillpoint Arts Quarterly (2016). Her work also appeared in and as the cover art of Maine Arts Journal (2019).
I use an older Wacom digital pen and tablet, a 22" iMac and Photoshop software . I "cut and paste", blend, filter and enhance each element as well as the whole.
I do not create with Ai.
